Thoughts on Individuality

Individuality and the dimino personality: Who will be next?:

Individuality, in conjunction with the personality of an individual, has always been perceived as a mystery to humankind.

In almost every generation, throughout the course of human history, there have always been individuals with unique personalities, who seem to appear on the horizon of history and suddenly, blossom in terms of charisma, popularity, leadership ability, achievement, artistry or music.

It is as if these individuals come out of nowhere and immediately, begin to take on a pre-designated role in our complex world. They seem to know exactly what they are called to do and manage to fulfill their tasks completely, in a way that no one else has been able to do until that time.

Interestingly, the tasks that they take on appear to require almost no visible effort on their part.

Individuals with this personality stand alone and over time, they seem to remain standing. Somehow, it defines their individuality.

For many different reasons, it appears as if they are pre-destined to be remembered in history. Their lives are so remarkable that the people in their world will not allow them to be forgotten.

What one must wonder is how someone who appears to be a non-distinct or non-existent individual to the world, suddenly emerges into existence and succeeds in taking over a dominant role in our world.

How can this person emerge, rise right to the top and stay there throughout the course of history?

Look at the personality that is manifest by these unique individuals.

First, they seem to demonstrate a personality that does not need to lean upon anyone else or anything else, in order to emerge, surface in some way or to remain standing in time.

Individuals, who tend to lean on others, wind up falling down in the end. When the first one topples over, in whatever way or for whatever reason, the rest will follow suit immediately. We may not ever comprehend why they fall; we just know that they do.

The personality of this kind of an individual may be compared to the first person standing in a row of dominoes. Each domino leans on the one prior to it. When one domino tumbles, the rest follow suit.
I will refer to this personality as a domino personality.

The dimino personality, on the other hand, seems to be different in a number of ways.

These individuals emerge and stand the test of time, even though they are invariably standing alone and often, go through many different kinds of adversity and conflict. It does not seem to stop them from doing what they appear to have been called to do. They seem to find a way to circumvent any obstacles that are in their pathways. They are determined to succeed, no matter what happens.

This personality may not appear to have been existing in them, prior to the actual time of its emergence. If it was in existence prior to its apparent emergence, somehow it goes unnoticed until exactly the right moment. Then there is no way that it will go unnoticed.

I will refer to this as a dimino emergence.

When this personality emerges, it does so quite suddenly and radically. It has a distinct reason for its emergence, at that time or in that place, even though that reason may not be discovered until much later in history.

The dimino personality is a very strong and powerful personality, beyond being a dominant personality trait. I don't think that this can be considered to be a trait. It is more likely to be what I would like to refer to as a wholological or holological personality. The wholological would refer to its wholeness or totality, while the holological would refer to its sacred or profane aspects.

The dimino personality seems to be a complex personality with many different facets to it. If one could place all of these facets on a continuum of one to one hundred, it might be suggested that every single possible facet is present in a dimino personality.

A domino personality, on the other hand, needs to complete or to compliment its facets, by drawing on other individuals. In itself, it appears to be incomplete.

While there are those who would like to dissect personalities into multiple personality traits or diagnose people with different kinds of personality disorders, the dimino personality appears to be one that is not only quite complex, but it is a complete whole or a totality. There is nothing lacking in it and it does not appear to be a fragmented personality in any way, shape of form.

The domino personality might be considered to be more of a fragmented personality, trying to fill its lack or needs through others.

It seems like the dimino personality in an individual, demonstrates the presence of everything that is required or needed, in order for the individual to accomplish whatever role or task has been somehow designated or pre-destined for him or her to accomplish, on the horizon of time. Nothing appears to be lacking.

Up to this time, to the best of my knowledge, no one has studied the distinctions between the domino personality and the dimino personality. There is probably more that can be said about both.

While we do not know when or from where, the next dimino personality will emerge in an individual, we do know one thing for certain. If we can truly state that there has been one individual with a dimino personality in human history, there will more than likely be more. There will always be domino personalities, as well.

The mystery of individuality continues with respect to the dimino personality, as we ask, "Who will be next?"
