Bridging the Gap Between Science and Religion

Diminoing: The lifeline

Bridging the gap between science and religion may or may not be possible, but history records both poles of thought. One approach insists upon either science or religion; the other side states science and religion.

Which one is right?

It appears that there is science that negates religion and science that does not negate religion. There is also religion that negates science and religion that does not negate science.

One wonders what could be a uniting factor constituting the middle road. It is an issue that pertains to life and all human, plant and animal life, but how are we to comprehend this?

When one examines the larger picture of reality in terms of non-existence to existence, it appears that the presence of energy is just one of the factors in the diminoing process of life. But, this is only one of many possible factors in the lifeline.

I have previously suggested that energy may be a uniting factor and have referred to the presence of energy as the dimino thread.

I have also suggested that the dimino thread or the presence of energy goes from non-existence to existence, through four stages or from nothing to something and then, from essence to substance.

But, what about life itself?

One must ask this question because something that is a substance, does not necessarily prove the presence of life.

The transition from non-existence to existence appears to be a rather complex scenario.

In other words, going from nothing to something and then, from essence to substance does not necessarily constitute life, much less initiate, sustain or maintain the life of a human being. Nor does this suggest the initiated or sustained the life of anything else, for example, plant or animal life.

What are the factors needed in order to initiate and to sustain life?

Energy?

Is energy alone sufficient to generate life?

One would have to say no, as life would not be generated in a situation where only energy exists.

Is just energy enough to sustain life? No, as energy alone would probably not sustain life. One might ask what constitutes energy? Taking a look at what we already know sustains life, might give us a clue.

In order for life to be sustained, what is needed is at least, these basic essentials:

Light
Nourishment
A suitable climate or temperature
A suitable environment
Water
Air

By drawing a continuum from one to ten, one begins to see that there is room for a whole lot of other, possible factors. The presence or absence of these, after life has been initiated, could lead to life either being sustained or not sustained. If life is not sustained, then there would be death.

On the postive end of the continuum, or as a one, there is life initiated, sustained and maintained life, while on the other end of the continuum would be life that is no longer sustained or maintained, which results in death.

Look at the initiation of life for a moment.

When you place a sperm and an ovum together, there is the possibility that a human life can be generated. What results is a phenomenon that appears to be explosive in nature. Energy is generated or manifested as a new life comes into being.

This is also frequently depicted in terms of what happens in both plant and animal life.

But, a sperm without life already cannot generate life; nor can an ovum without life generate life, so both must have some inherent energy factor already, that allows the generation of further energy, in terms of propagation.

So what is the source of energy and this life?

Can one suggest that energy begets energy? Is that possible?

In eastern thought, the life force is mentioned frequently, as the source and the maintainer of life. It is found in all human, as well as plant and animal life.

In western thought, particularly with respect to Christianity, life is perceived as being from God originally and being sustained by God. One comes from God and returns to God. Also all plants and animals are perceived as having been created by God.

Science attempts to take some kind of a middle road between the two, but falls short in not being able to create life.

Obviously, there has to be some factor beyond energy, which appears to be from a divine source.
There are those who have suggested that it is light, but can light alone create human life or plant and animal life? Perceived as divine light, the possibility exists.

The phenomenon which involves the creation and sustaining of life has always been a mystery and will continue to be a mystery to human beings, for now

One thing that we do know is that there is a lifeline, that is diminoing and it will stand the test of time. Inherent in this lifeline is the dimino thread, which demonstrates and exerts some kind of energy, which in turn allows the propagation of new life, when the necessary requirements for initiating and sustaining life are met.

Bridging the gap between science and religion is important and bridges are essentially links, like energy, as the dimino thread in the diminoing lifeline.
