The Labyrinth: On Creating a New Path

"Life is such a labyrinth!"

"Me, create a new path?"

What does it mean to create a new path? The word create suggests bringing into existence something that is new, by an action or a behavior. Creating a new path, designing, producing or inventing something new, can bring a person into the joy of discovery. (1)

When life is considered to be a labyrinth or like a labyrinth, one sees his or her life in terms of being like a maze, full of blind alleys or passageways, some of which go somewhere, but others which lead only to dead ends. (2)

We are all familiar with a garden maze, where there are paths separated by hedges. A labyrinth has a complex and even tortuous structure. Sometimes it can be almost impossible to find one's way through it. But, sometimes it can be very beautiful too!

"Yes, life can be like that."

By taking a higher road, looking at a maze or even life from a bird's eye view, one can see it from a different perspective. There is always the possibility of a new path. Taking a higher path is not always possible, so there are times when one simply needs to carve out a new path, directly through whatever channels are already in existence. Sometimes it is like flying blind through dense fog.

The individual unknowingly places his or her signature on the new pathway, the moment that the new path project has been initiated.

"But how does one begin to create a new path?"

First of all, there are three aspects to take into consideration.

There is a task.

"Do I have a valid path? No? Then I will create one." The task has been established.

There is a talent required.

"Do I have the talent, strength or the energy to create a new path? Yes, if I use the talent, strength and energy that I would employ in other directions, to make up for any energy that I am lacking, I will have more than sufficient to create a new path."

This is a test.

 "Can I really do it? Will it be a valid path for others to follow? Will someone else be able to access this path? I will complete the test and succeed. I am determined to do so."

"Do you hear the call of the distant drummer?"

Not everyone hears the call to create a new path and even those who do, may not always respond. It is like a voice echoed and re-echoed, through the mountains, with no response coming forth.

"A dimino responds."

"What is a dimino?"

The person who does respond to the call to create a new path, may be referred to as a dimino or be depicted as having a dimino personality, because he or she is bringing something new into reality, out of what appears to be non-existence. A new path enters into existence, when a dimino personality responds to the call to create one.

On the other hand, the domino does not respond to the call. The domino or the person with a domino personality, is too busy following others or something else. In the end, he or she may fall down along with all of the rest. Dominoes always fall down, one after another.

"Is the new path that you are going to create, a real path or a virtual one?"

It does not matter what kind of a path you are creating. What does matter is the reality that you have to set a destination or a goal. Determine a time frame for the accomplishment of the new reality that you are bringing into existence.

How long will it take for you to accomplish your task? Have you drawn the road map and set a plan of action in motion? If not, begin to do so now.

You might want to take a moment to determine your own endurance, strength and stamina, before setting your pace. Recognize the reality that there is time involved, as well as hard work and there may not be a lot of thanks. You are entering into the realm of the unknown to some extent. It can be an exciting adventure that may appear to be both frightening and challenging, at the same time. It may involve some sacrifice on your part, as well.

Focus on the reward at the end of the path.

What is your incentive? Is it recognition, a feeling of satisfaction, a sense of accomplishment, a monetary reward, some kind of personal comfort, like rest and relaxation? In order to actually create a path of any kind, there must be something that moves you to take advantage of the opportunity.

Remember that leaders always strike out alone, in many ways and not a lot of people follow, until the path is recognized, over time. Others tend to follow together as groups, rather than as individuals, so being a leader can be a lonely road.

In creating a physical path, there will mountains to climb, rivers to cross and swamps to wade through. The valleys, where the paths are created the most easily, may be few and far between. Thus, creating a new path can be a difficult task.

Creating new paths in life is comparable, in many ways. Even if you are considering developing a virtual path on the Internet, it can have just as many obstacles, along the way. Whatever you set as your goal, keep your eye on it and you will reach it in time, even if you have to make some detours, along the way.

You owe it to yourself to put your signature on your new path, in such a way that it can be recognized by others, immediately. It is yours, especially once you have achieved your goal. You deserve the recognition for it. Claim it as your own.

"Maybe you are a creator of paths or of new labyrinths? Either way, you are a dimino!"
